The Soccer Scholar

History, Scholarship, and Opinion

About

Hello! A bit about me then? I’m currently an adjunct professor of history and hold an MA in history. Beyond soccer, my research focuses on the 1960s counterculture and the Haight-Ashbury. Pulling the lens out a bit further, my research interests include post-World War II culture, (auto)mobility, and geographic theory. Lately I’ve been obsessed with Florida and suburban spaces.

Outside of academia, I’ve has written for SBNation’s TheManeland.com, MLSsoccer.com, and a variety of other sports, music, political blogs and magazines. I’ve been lucky enough to has appear on a number of podcasts including The Mane Land’s “Pawed Cast,” Once a Metro’s “Red Bull Rant,” and Last Word on Sports Soccer podcasts among others. I also have a number of academic publications, conference presentations, and invited talks on my CV.

I’m an Orlando City season ticket holder since the earliest days of USL.
